The 49ers needed something special to happen after losing five of their last six games, and Deishuan Booker delivered with a full-court buzzer-beating layup run that gave them a 70-69 win over UC Santa Barbara on the road.
Booker had a career-best 20 points, sharing the scoring lead with senior Gabe Levin, who had 20 points as well.
The victory puts the 49ers in position to claim the fifth seed into next week’s Big West Tournament. The win was also the 1,000th in program history.
Long Beach State (14-17, 8-7) will host UC Riverside in the Pyramid at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday to close the regular season.
