Long Beach Jordan alum John Timu, who had his jersey retired by the school a few months ago, re-signed with the Chicago Bears on Thursday afternoon, inking a one-year contract that will keep him in the NFL for a fourth season.
Timu was signed undrafted by the Bears in 2015 after graduating from Washington and was on the team’s practice squad until being promoted in December. In 2016 he was on the team’s practice squad until late September. Last year he once again began the season on the Bears’ practice squad and was promoted to the 53-man roster on September 23, going on to appear in 11 games and make two starts.
In three seasons with the team, Timu has racked up 59 tackles.
