A big first inning lifted Wilson baseball to a 6-0 win at Katella on Friday in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs. It is the first postseason win for the Bruins since 2015, and they were outscored 15-3 in their last three playoff losses.
“It feels great to see our guys go out and compete against a team that we matched up well against,” Wilson coach Andy Hall said. “It feels like we may be peaking at the right time of year.”
Wilson pitchers Nick Endres and Aiden Alaniz combined to pitch the shutout while senior Alex Seguine helped spark the 6-run first inning that proved to be the difference. Seguine finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Wilson (19-11-1) hosts Arcadia (24-2) in the second round on Tuesday.
