After a few years of suffering CIF Southern Section playoff woes, four Moore League baseball and softball teams are playing in the second round this afternoon.
BASEBALL
Wilson (19-11-1) vs. Arcadia (24-2), 3:15 p.m.
The Bruins are hosting this Division 3 matchup at Skip Rowland Field after winning their first playoff game since 2015 last week.
Arcadia, the No. 2 seed, edged Santa Monica 2-0 in the first round. Wilson lost to Santa Monica 5-3 in April. Arcadia has a 1.38 team ERA and .450 team on-base percentage. The Pacific League runner-up scored 186 runs with 56 stolen bases on 65 attempts.
Long Beach Poly (15-16) at Temescal Canyon (21-8-1), 4 p.m.
Also in Division 3, the Jackrabbits are on the road for their first second-round game since 2006.
Temescal Canyon beat Pacifica 6-1 in the first round, and has allowed three runs per game this season. Titans sophomore Caden Szuba has 39 hits and nine doubles.
SOFTBALL
Wilson (16-15) at Atascadero (21-3), 3:15 p.m.
The Moore League champion Bruins are on a long road trip today in Division 3 after winning their first playoff game since 2011 last week.
Atascadero was ranked No. 5 in the final Division 3 poll, and blanked St. Bonaventure 8-0 in the first round. The Greyhounds have a 1.40 team-ERA and 89 stolen bases.
Lakewood (18-12) vs. Buena (24-5), 3:15 p.m.
The Lancers are hosting the top seed in Division 2 after beating Cypress 4-2 last week. Lakewood lost in the first round last year for the first time in more than a decade.
Buena edged Simi Valley 2-1 in the first round. The Bulldogs are on a 17-game winning streak, and 31 percent of their hits this season went for extra bases.
