The Long Beach State Dirtbags dropped the series opener to Cal State Fullerton 9-3 on Thursday at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field.
CSUF (31-22, 17-5 Big West) scored in six different innings and had seven extra-base hits. LBSU (26-29, 11-11 Big West) got three hits from leadoff hitter Clayton Andrews, but stranded nine runners on base.
The Dirtbags committed three errors in the first two innings, which gave the Titans an early lead.
LBSU starter Zak Baayoun (9H, 6R, 4 ER, 2 K) battled through seven innings and did not walk a batter.
The series continues on Friday at 6 p.m. Andrews (6-7, .2.18 ERA) will get the start, taking on RHP Tommy Wilson (6-0, 2.93 ERA) for the Titans.
