Solid pitching and opportunistic small-ball offense helped the best baseball players from the Moore League win the Kiwanis All-Star Game 4-2 over the San Gabriel Valley League on Friday night at Paramount High.
Wilson senior center fielder Ryan Guerero won the MVP award with two hits and a run scored that broke the 2-2 tie in the fifth inning.
“You never want to take off your uniform for the last time after a disappointing loss, like we did last week,” Guerero said. “To put it on one more time and come out here and play with your friends is really fun.”
The Moore League used seven pitchers (Millikan’s Kelly Hackshaw, Julian Aguiar, Trevor Sutt, Wilson’s Aiden Alaniz, Poly’s Jesse Simon, Cabrillo’s Dylan Gambino, Jordan’s Adrean Lopez). They didn’t allow an earned run while scattering six hits, striking out 10 and stranding 10 runners in nine innings.
