Casper Ware returned to the NBA summer league for the first time since 2014 when he made his NBA debut with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Long Beach State men’s basketball alum is played with the Portland Trail Blazers.
“I’m only getting older,” Ware told the Los Angeles Times. “This is probably the last go around I’ll give myself.”
Ware, 27, averaged 5.3 points, 1.1 assists and one steal per game with the 76ers in 2014, but the 5’10” point guard has made a bigger name for himself overseas. He won the Italian 2nd Division’s MVP award in his first professional season after averaging 20.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game for A.S. Junior Casale. Ware has played for six different teams in Italy, Germany, China, France and Australia. Last year, he led Melbourne United to the championship while earning All-NBL First-Team honors for the second consecutive season.
In the four Las Vegas summer league games with Portland, Ware averaged 11.5 minutes, 3 points, 1.5 steals, one assist and 1.5 rebounds.
