July has been a busy month on the recruiting front for Long Beach footballers, as Long Beach Poly’s Alex Austin and Millikan’s Malik Bradford both committed to Pac-12 universities.

Bradford is a standout on a rising Millikan team that could lead the charge to unseat Poly in the Moore League this year. Bradford has figured as a Pac-12 recruit for a few years and solidified that earlier this summer when he committed to Cal.
Cal sought Bradford because they’re looking to find some bigger receivers, and the 6-2, 210-pound Bradford fit the bill. Bradford liked Cal because he wants to be a part of rebuilding the program and because he’s thinking of life after he hangs up the pads.
“Cal is one of the best public universities in the country,” Bradford told 247’s Greg Biggins. “I plan to major in business and their Haas School of Business is one of the best. A degree from Cal can really set you up for life after football and that was important to me.”
The Rams senior said he also wanted to get his commitment out of the way so he could focus on his year with Millikan.
