The Long Beach State women’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams will both be in action over the weekend.
FRIDAY
Long Beach State Women’s Soccer vs. Northeastern, 7 p.m.
This is the second of a three-game homestand to start the season for LBSU (1-1-0), and these two schools have never met. Northeastern is a Division 1 program in Boston that competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Huskies (1-1-0) beat Connecticut in the season opener 2-0, but fell to Boston College on Sunday.
Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball at Portland State Tournament
After the scrimmage at Walter Pyramid on Tuesday, LBSU opens its season with three games in two days at the Portland State Tournament. The 49ers will take on Boise State in the season opener today, and then face the host Vikings again in the nightcap. LBSU and Portland State will play again at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Beach is 7-0 all-time against Boise State, and 5-1 against Portland State.
SUNDAY
Long Beach State Women’s Soccer vs. San Diego State, 6 p.m.
The Beach will try to beat the heat and finish under the lights at George Allen Field against San Diego State. LBSU is 4-5-2 all-time against the Aztecs, but have won the last two meetings. Last season, Tori Bolden and Nadiyah Siqueiros scored in a 2-0 road victory while goalkeeper Imani McDonald made five saves for the shutout.
