Lakewood High has produced more than a dozen Major Leaguers, and a few NBA and NFL players too. The Lancers have also produced a world-class cornholer: Matthew Strattman.
Strattman won the American Cornhole League’s Southern California championship this month, besting a field of hundreds. The ACL’s regional championships serve as qualifying events for its national championship, which will be held later in the year on ESPN with a $250,000 top prize.
The event was hosted by Ultra Cornhole in San Diego, and carried a $500 prize.
“It’s super fun, yet competitive,” said Strattman. “It’s good for us guys who don’t want to blow out a knee hooping at the park.”
