Wilson stared its Moore League schedule with its second blowout victory at home on Friday night. The Bruins scored early and often in its 48-0 win over the visiting Cabrillo Jaguars.
Wilson quarterback Ryan Pettway threw five touchdowns to Zach Dolphin (2), Kevin Sperry, Michael Bruner and Tyrie Robinson. Dillon Harris also rushed for a touchdown, and linebacker Julian Valencia returned a fumble for a touchdown on defense.
Pettway went 10/13 for 251 yards, and Dolphin finished with six catches for 154 yards. Running back Dillon Harris rushed for 116 yards on 17 carries.
“I love the ‘state of mind’ of our team right now,” Wilson coach Mark Ziegenhagen said. “The players are playing hard, and my coaches have done a great job preparing and getting them ready each week.
Cabrillo (1-4) will enjoy a bye next week while Wilson (3-2) hosts Poly.
“If we continue to stay the path, keep getting better each week mentally and physically, we could be a team to be reckoned with come playoff time,” Ziegenhagen said. “Our confidence is growing and becoming contagious.”
