The top three boys’ water polo teams in Long Beach flexed their muscles on Wednesday at Cabrillo High during the annual Moore League Showcase.
“It’s great to have this state of the art pool and have all the teams here to play together and see each other,” Cabrillo coach Lawrence Durand said. “Long Beach water polo has a lot of love, with the coaches and players, we’re not like other sports. We have a lot of comradery. It’s always a pleasure to host this big event. Hopefully we can do it every year until the new pools get built.”
Poly beat Jordan in the first game, Millikan took down Lakewood in the second game and Wilson defeated host Carbillo in the nightcap.
“I always enjoy staring league here,” Poly coach Ish Pluton said. “It’s awesome to play in the big water venue, and its great to showcase where everyone is at right at the start of league. It’s also great to play outside and have to put sunscreen on my face.”
