PREVIEW: Millikan vs. Compton Football

There is a lot on the line tonight in Compton when Millikan comes to town for a Moore League showdown.

Compton (5-0, 1-0) is having it’s best season in more than a decade, and is ranked No. 8 in CIF-SS Division 10. Millikan (3-2, 1-1) can take a strong hold on second place in league with a victory, and is ranked No. 8 in Division 7. Unfortunately, injuries could change this matchup.

“We’re the healthiest we’ve been all year,” Millikan coach Justin Utupo said.

Millikan junior quarterback Qeanu Campbell-Caldwell (knee), senior running back Qu’Juan Campbell (shoulder) and senior receiver Malik Bradford (hamstring) have all missed time this season, but should be back at full strength tonight.

Compton is missing four starters on offense due to injury, and star running back Niles Hibbert is a game-time decision. The senior has 595 yards rushing and seven touchdowns.

“This will be a big test for us,” Compton coach Calvin Bryant said. “(Millikan) is a very solid football team that has athletes all over the field.”

Compton has only beaten Millikan once since the Rams had to forfeit their 2013 victory. They’ve split their last two meetings.
