Wilson was looking for a bounceback game to get themselves right before entering the toughest part of their schedule, and the Bruins got it on Homecoming Night against Jordan. Wilson came out pounding the ball and didn’t stop in a 48-7 win over Jordan.
“When we show up and do the right things, we can be a pretty good football team,” said Mark Ziegenhagen. “We’ve been saying every week is a playoff games–we’ve got to win out and we’ve got three tough ones ahead of us.”
The Bruins will visit Lakewood and Millikan and then host Compton to close the regular season out. If they can keep running the ball the way they did against Jordan, they’ll have more games to come after that. Wilson kept it on the ground and racked up over 150 yards and three touchdowns in just the first half, as Marcos Nottingham and Dillon Harris were unstoppable against the Panthers.
QB Ryan Pettway looked sharp as he went ¾ for 111 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 30-yard screen pass by Tyrie Robinson.
“We knew we weren’t going to throw it very much, that’s not what we’re working on right now,” said Ziegenhagen.
The Wilson defense played well as Logan Ziegenhagen stripped Jordan QB Anthony Scott and teammate Soloman Bowie recovered it for a touchdown.
The Bruins led 34-0 after Harris’ second touchdown of the evening; he had four carries for 55 yards and two scores in the first half while Nottingham had eight carries for 83 yards and a score. In the second half backup QB Jacob Shaw hit Zecheriah Dolphin for a 30-yard touchdown and then ran in another score himself to make it 48-0. Jordan got on the board when Isaac Ochoa hit Aaron D. Savage for a touchdown. Jordan Wofford had three tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery in the loss for the Panthers.
“We just came out flat from the beginning,” said Jordan coach Tim Wedlow. “I don’t know if it was it being their Homecoming or what but we just weren’t in the right frame of mind tonight.”
Wilson visits Lakewood next week while Jordan will visit Cabrillo.
