THURSDAY
High School Girls’ Golf, 2:30 p.m.
Moore League leaders Wilson and Millikan settled the league team title on Tuesday at Recreation Park Golf Course, and both teams are back there today as the Bruins take on Cabrillo, and the Rams face Poly.
High School Girls’ Volleyball, 4:30 p.m.
There are only three days of Moore League play left in the regular season. The top three teams in the league are in action today before Poly visits Lakewood to settle the league title on Tuesday. Today, Poly visits Jordan while Lakewood travels to Cabrillo. Millikan is also hosting Wilson in an important third-place showdown.
High School Girls’ Tennis, 3 p.m.
Poly can extend its league lead at Millikan today while second-place Wilson hosts Lakewood. In other action, Compton is visiting Cabrillo and Jordan is taking on CAMS at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
High School Boys’ Water Polo, 3:15 p.m.
Poly is hosting Millikan in the marquee matchup of the day while Wilson visits Lakewood and Cabrillo hosts Jordan. The Jaguars and Panthers were the only Long Beach teams on the CIF Southern Section watchlist to start the season. Cabrillo is No. 3 in Division 7.
Long Beach State Women’s Soccer at Hawaii, 10 p.m.
The Beach (5-4-2, 0-0-1) will be on the big island this week for the second Big West Conference game of the season. Hawaii (6-4-1, 1-1-0) beat Cal State Northridge 2-1 and lost to UC Irvine 1-0 in double overtime last week. Hawaii has 15 assists on 18 goals, and LBSU has 20 assists on 17 goals. Raisa Strom-Okimoto leads Hawaii with six goals, which ranks second in the conference.
FRIDAY
High School Football, 7 p.m.
The Moore League playoff picture will come into focus tonight as Long Beach Poly hosts Compton at Veterans Memorial Stadium, and Wilson visits Lakewood. The Jackrabbits are in first place, but Compton, Wilson and Lakewood all have one league loss. The winner between the Bruins and Lancers will jump into a tie for second place.
In other action, Jordan is at Cabrillo while St. Anthony visits La Salle. Avalon continues its 8-Man season at ACES on Saturday.
Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball vs. UC Irvine, 7 p.m.
LBSU (10-7, 2-2) is back at the Walter Pyramid for a pair of Big West games on consecutive nights. UC Irvine (8-7, 2-1) has easy wins over UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis, but lost to Hawaii in five sets last weekend. UCI freshman Abby Marjama leads the conference with 0.55 service aces per set.
Long Beach State Men’s Water Polo vs. Pepperdine, 7 p.m.
This is the second consecutive match under the Friday night lights at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center. LBSU (6-4) is on a three-game losing streak, and Pepperdine (6-6) is on a four-game losing streak.
Long Beach State Women’s Tennis Tournament
The 49ers are hosting their annual three-day Beach Tennis Tournament this weekend at Rhodes Tennis Center.
SATURDAY
Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball vs. UC Davis, 7 p.m.
This Big West matchup will be a defensive battle. UC Davis (9-7, 1-3) is limiting opponents to .196 hitting this year, and senior Malia Bolko leads the conference with 5.06 digs per set. LBSU senior Emma Krist (1.11) and junior Yizhi Xue (1.09) are top two in the Big West for blocks per set.
