The Long Beach City College women’s volleyball team is on an eight-game winning streak after sweeping LA Harbor on Friday in the Hall of Champions Gym. The Vikings (13-2, 2-0 South Coast Conference) took the match 25-17, 25-12, 25-14.
LBCC sophomore Jessica Blakeman had a game-high 14 kills, while freshman setter Kaitlyn Peterson finished with four service aces. Sophomore middle blocker Elsa Woods added eight kills, five digs and one block assist.
Women’s Water Polo
LBCC (8-7, 4-0) stayed perfect in the South Coast Conference with a 15-3 win over visiting Pasadena City last week. Sophomore Sabrina Juarez scored a game-high four goals for the Vikings, while freshmen defenders Samantha Martinez and Karissa Qualley had three goals each.
Men’s Soccer
LBCC (7-2-1, 2-0-1) picked up a 4-1 conference win at Compton last Friday. Sophomore Oskar Raymundo, freshman Javier Gonzalez, sophomore Ruben Menjivar and freshman Sergio Flores all scored goals.
Women’s Soccer
LBCC (4-3-1, 3-0) shut out Compton 2-0 on Wednesday in conference action as freshman forward Brittany Caudillo scored both goals.
Men’s Water Polo
The Vikings (10-4, 2-0) won all four games at the Riverside Invitational last weekend by beating Diablo Valley, Orange Coast, Riverside and LA Valley. Freshman attacker Hugo Roscio had eight goals on the weekend, and sophomore attacker Felipe Carsalade led all scorers with 11 goals in four games.
Football
The Vikings (3-2) are trying to win a fourth consecutive conference title this season, and that challenge starts tonight at 6 at East Los Angeles.
East Los Angeles (2-3) and LBCC are both giving up more than 30 points per game this season, but the Vikings have the more potent offense with over 400 yards per game.
