The Vikings improved to 15-3 last week in a split pair of matches, with a loss to El Camino and a win over Passadena. The Vikings were led in both matches by Jessica Blakeman, who had 13 kills and 17 digs in the loss and 11 kills, 3 digs and a block in the win over Pasadena, which came at home in four sets.
Ashley Gonzales, Long Beach State Soccer
Long Beach State senior Ashley Gonzales made history on Sunday night in a 2-1 win over UC Irvine. Gonzales scored a goal with 20 minutes left to put Long Beach State up 2-0, a goal that ended up being the deciding score in a win that gives LBSU inside track on a Big West title. It also was Gonzales’ 34th career score, giving her the new career record for most goals in LBSU history.
