Bella Nguyen, Wilson Tennis
Wilson senior Bella Nguyen is a nationally-ranked junior tennis player and she showed off her skill last Friday at the Moore League girls’ tennis tournament, winning a thrilling individual title. She dropped the first set of the final to Poly’s defending champion Ava Deguzman before rallying to win the title 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-0.
Isabella Bareford, St. Anthony Volleyball
St. Anthony setter Isabella Bareford is committed to Cal, and she proved last week that she’s a rare talent in the Division 5 bracket. In a four-set win over Oak Hills Bareford had 45 assists, 10 digs and four kills and in a five-set semifinal loss to top-seeded Ontario Christian she had 47 assists and five kills.
Sebastian Kronberger, Lakewood Football
Lakewood senior running back Sebastian Kronberger was hoping that last Friday night against Cabrillo wouldn’t be his last time in a Lancers uniform. He also wanted to run so hard that it would be okay if it was. He ended up racking up 233 total yards and six touchdowns in a 77-0 win, a fitting end to a record-setting career.
Marcos Nottingham, Wilson Football
Senior Wilson running back Marcos Nottingham didn’t start the year as Wilson’s featured back, but he ended it that way. Against Compton in a must-win game, Nottingham rushed for 208 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries on Friday night. Nottingham will lead Wilson into the playoffs this week.
