Postseason success has been feast or famine for Moore League boys’ soccer in recent years, and the local boys look ready to chow down with new field turf serving as their plate this season. Some Long Beach coaches even said they’re more concerned with the playoffs than a league title.
“Obviously winning league is important,” Cabrillo 24th-year coach Pat Noyes said. “But getting into the playoffs and playing well is more important. The truth is that coming in first for league isn’t necessarily the best for the playoffs. If you look at our team two years ago that won league and was No. 1 in Division 2, we got one home game and lost two coin flips. Over at Bellflower they’ve won it twice as third place in their league.”
Six of the seven Moore League teams have finished their respective nonleague schedules with a winning records, which could make for another very close title chase.
