Millikan def. Wilson 62-58
What looked like a routine win for the Rams turned into a dogfight down the stretch. Millikan led by 18 at halftime but saw their lead cut to just one point late in the fourth quarter on a big three-pointer by Frank Sam of Wilson. Millikan was able to hit its free throws and secure the win as the Bruins came up empty on their last two offensive possessions.
Freshman Rob Diaz led Millikan with 26 points.
Compton def. Cabrillo 75-54
Compton got 18 points and six assists from Danny Beltran to set up Thursday night’s big showdown with Poly; Compton and Poly are the last two Moore League teams with no losses.
Long Beach Poly def. Lakewood 74-53
It was another easy win for the Jackrabbits, who have yet to be tested in the Moore League. Time will tell if Thursday night’s game against Compton proves a test or not.
Girls’ Basketball
Compton def. Cabrillo 86-28
Compton continued its strong season, improving to 11-6 and 2-2 in league with the win. Shayna Sanders led the way with 20 points.
Millikan def. Wilson 89-51
The Rams improved to 6-1 and a perfect 3-0 in Moore League play with the win over the Bruins. Junior Lesley Garcia led the way with 22 points for Millikan.
