The FC Premier U9 boys’ team won its first Cal South State Cup Championship in Norco by beating some of the best youth soccer teams in the nation over the last two months. FC Premier defeated Rialto Fire 5-0 in the quarterfinal, Total Futbol Academy 6-4 in the semifinal and Brazil Stars 3-0 in the final.
“This is the toughest tournament to win at the youth level of competitive soccer, it’s similar to March Madness,” coach Tim Alonzo said.
Right wing Husani Smith, striker Aiden Montano and central midfielder Riley Kanaly scored the goals in the final against Brazil Stars. Goalkeeper Thierry Alonzo collected three clean sheets in the tournament with the help of defenders Jacob Weinman, Jake Breault and David Silva.
Alonzo said he credits the team success to the families that have been very supportive and how much passion the boys have.
“This is a proud moment for our club,” Alonzo said. “These young men created a memory that will live forever.”
