The Lakewood Lancers are on the road tonight visiting Corona del Mar for another stiff preseason challenge a week after picking up their first win of the season.
First-year coach Scott Meyer has been patient with his Lancers as they’ve faced perennial playoff teams.
“They’re very good,” Meyer said of CDM. “They’ve got an explosive offense and a very solid defense. Hopefully playing these good teams now pays off in Moore League.”
After he helped rebuild the Jordan High football program a decade ago, Meyer coached Corona del Mar from 2011-13 in one of the most successful stretches in Sea Kings history. Meyer had a 40-4 at CDM while winning three CIF-SS championship and one CIF State title. After the undefeated season in 2013, Meyer took over at Servite.
The Lancers lost to CDM 35-0 at home last year.
