After a 2-17 campaign last season, Cabrillo has a new coach in Alexandria Orlich, who’s hoping to lead the Jaguars in a different direction in 2019-20. So far, so good.

“We’ve made tremendous growth from last year to this year,” said orlich, who brings Ebonee Batiste with her as an assistant and JV coach.

The Jaguars have a young roster with only three seniors, which has required Orlich to turn to young players for more than just “on court” production.

“Our younger players have been stepping up to the challenge and taking on leadership roles,” said Orlich.

Chief among those young players is sophomore point guard Kylah Sagale, who will start for the Jaguars this year and who’s serving as a captain for the team as well. Sagale is a returning second team All-Moore League player.

“Her tenacity and ability to control the floor will help us be successful this season,” said Orlich.
