Top 10 For 2020: Remember The Elephant Lot

One of the most surprising storylines of 2019 was the city of Long Beach entering into negotiations with the Anaheim Angels about bringing the team to our city, with a new stadium potentially being constructed on the “Elephant Lot,” also known as the Long Beach Arena’s parking lot. While the Angels conversations fell through (the team will remain in Anaheim for the next 50 years per a contract they signed with Anaheim), it’s likely that something will be done with that parking lot. Mayor Robert Garcia has discussed several times a desire to see something built there.

Nobody yet knows what the future holds for that piece of real estate, but given the extensive conversations already had with a pro sports team, it’s not unreasonable to assume that a new facility of some kind could be built there. Maybe 2020 is the year we’ll find out.

Commentary: What’s next for Long Beach’s Field of Dreams? * Long Beach Post Sports

The question now is what will become of Long Beach’s Field of Dreams? Or rather, its Parking Lot of Dreams? The “Elephant Lot” site, better known to residents as the Long Beach Arena and its parking lot, or as the Whale Building and its parking lot (or, to confused tourists, as the Aquarium) still has a lot of potential.
