THURSDAY
High School Girls’ Soccer, 3 p.m.
The Moore League is well into its season with six match days already in the books. Today the league-leading Millikan Rams are traveling to Compton while Poly visits Cabrillo and Wilson hosts Jordan at 6:30 p.m. in the nightcap.

Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball vs. Benedictine, 8 p.m.
The three games this week as part of the annual UCSB Asics Invitational will be the official start of the regular season for No. 4 LBSU. The Beach will open tonight against Benedictine and take on McKendree on Friday afternoon before finishing up with Concordia on Saturday evening. LBSU easily swept all three of its UCSB Asics Invitational matches last year.

High School Wrestling, 5 p.m.
Tonight will feature the first and only three-way Moore League meet of the year as the wrestlers from Jordan and Compton will travel to Cabrillo to both take on the Jaguars. In other action, Wilson will be at Lakewood while Long Beach Poly hosts Millikan.
The Wilson girls came up with the upset of the season last month when they beat defending league champion Millikan 42-39. The Bruins were led by senior Mandy DeSilva (126 pounds), junior Gracie Kirazian (143) and freshman Vivianna Vega (189) all won via pin.
Long Beach State Women’s Basketball vs. Cal Poly, 7 p.m.
The Beach is opening up Big West play at Walter Pyramid tonight against Cal Poly. The Mustangs (3-8) are second to last in the conference standings coming into the new year, and haven’t won a road game this season. They snapped a three-game losing streak last weekend against winless Holy Names 100-35.
Cal Poly redshirt junior forward Sierra Campisano is second in the conference with 17 points per game, and third with 9.1 rebounds. LBSU doesn’t have a player in the top five of those categories.
LBSU leads the all-time series with Cal Poly 46-23, but the Mustangs have won four of the last five meetings after their overtime victory last year.
FRIDAY
High School Basketball, 5 p.m. & 6:30 p.m.
This will be the first full week of Moore League action, but unfortunately defending Moore League champions Long Beach Poly is on the bye tonight.
Compton will be hosing Wilson for good doubleheader matchup in both the girls’ and boys’ games. Meanwhile, Cabrillo will be at Lakewood and Millikan will host Jordan.
St. Anthony is hosting Serra at 7 p.m. in Del Rey League action.
High School Boys’ Soccer, 7 p.m.
The Moore League “Classico” rivalry between Millikan and Cabrillo will be reignited at Veterans Memorial Stadium tonight. These two programs have given fans some of the most hotly contested league races over the last 15 years. The Rams and Jaguars each have a win and two draws in this matchup over the last two league seasons.
In other league action that will also cap a three-game week, Poly is hosting Wilson at 3 p.m. before Lakewood travels to Jordan at 6. MORE SOCCER COVERAGE
Long Beach City College Men’s Basketball vs. LA Trade-Tech, 7 p.m.
The Vikings are back at home tonight after sophomore guard Jace Bass scored a season-high 46 points on Monday as the Vikings took down Golden West College 100-75 in the Hall of Champions.
LBCC (10-4) is ranked No. 24 in California.
SATURDAY
Long Beach State Men’s Basketball at UC Santa Barbara, 7 p.m.
After opening the Big West schedule with a loss at Cal State Northridge on Wednesday night, the Beach is on the road at UC Santa Barbara tonight. The Gauchos (11-4) are riding a five-game winning streak into conference play where they are atop the Big West standings.
UCSB junior guard JaQuori McLaughlin is fourth in the conference with 15.3 points per game, and 6’9” 235-pound sophomore forward Amadou Sow is second with 7.1 rebounds. LBSU doesn’t have a player in the top five of those categories.
The Beach leads the all-time series with UCSB 68-60, and these old rivals have split the last four meetings after Deishuan Booker’s 26 points led LBSU to a win on the road last year.
Ron Massey Tip-Off Classic
The sixth Ron Massey Tip-Off Classic honoring the late Jordan basketball coach will include six games at Long Beach City College today, and there are three Long Beach teams playing in six games. Wilson takes on St. Paul at 11am, Lakewood will face Sunnyside from Fresno at 2:10 p.m. and Jordan plays Corona del Mar at 5:20 p.m. before the main event between Redondo Union and Orange Lutheran.
Long Beach State Women’s Basketball at Cal State Fullerton, 6 p.m.
The Beach is at Cal State Fullerton tonight for the second Big West game in three days. The Titans (8-5) has the best overall record in the conference thanks to a four-game winning streak. CSUF also has quality wins on the road at UNLV, LMU and San Diego.
Fullerton redshirt junior guard Raina Perez leads the conference with 22.5 points per game, and 5’9” transfer forward Joy Krupa is second with 10.7 rebounds.
LBSU leads the all-time series 75-41, but the Beach has only won three of the last five games against the Titans.
