THURSDAY
High School Girls’ Soccer, 5 p.m.
Wilson and Millikan are both playing home games after their first-place showdown on Tuesday. The Bruins are hosting Compton at 4:45 p.m. and the Rams are hosting Jordan at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Lakewood is hosting Cabrillo in the third game.
St. Anthony is trying to stay in first place in the Camino Real League at St. Mary’s Academy at 4:30 p.m.
High School Wrestling, 5 p.m.
This is the final night for Moore League dual meets as first-place Millikan tries to finish off the undefeated league season at Jordan against the wrestlers from Compton and Jordan. In other action, Wilson is hosting Cabrillo while Long Beach Poly visits Lakewood.
The girls’ league individual finals are at Lakewood on Saturday Feb. 1, and the boys’ individual finals are at Compton on Thursday Feb. 6.
Long Beach State Women’s Basketball vs. Hawaii, 7 p.m.
The Beach is back at Walter Pyramid tonight to host a Hawaii team on a two-game winning streak. Senior guard Julissa Tago leads the Rainbow Wahine with 12.5 points a game, and redshirt junior Amy Atwell is averaging 11 points while shooting 44.8 percent from 3-point range. LBSU has won two of its last three games against Hawaii but lost late last season. The Rainbow Wahine lead the all-time series 20-19.
FRIDAY
High School Girls’ & Boys’ Basketball, 5 & 6:30 p.m.
The second round of Moore League play starts this week and the second-place showdown between the Millikan and Compton boys is the big game of the night. The Rams won a dramatic 51-49 game at Compton on Jan. 6. Compton is also hosting first-place Poly on Monday night and traveling to fourth-place Wilson on Wednesday night to finish an important run of games.
St. Anthony carried a 10-game winning streak into this week and are at Cantrell Sacred Heart of Mary at 7 tonight.
High School Boys’ Soccer, 3 p.m.
After traveling to Millikan on Wednesday, fourth-place Wilson can stay in the running for the Moore League title with a win over visiting Jordan tonight at 6:30. In other action, Millikan is at Compton and Cabrillo is hosting Lakewood. The Jaguars and Poly were tied for first place after the first round of Moore League play.
St. Anthony can stay in second place in the Camino Real League with a win at Mary Star Of The Sea.
Long Beach City College Men’s Basketball at Cerritos, 7 p.m.
The No. 23 Vikings are opening South Coast Conference play this week and this is the second game in three days. LBCC split its two games against the rival Falcons last year.
Long Beach City College Women’s Basketball at Cerritos, 5 p.m.
This game kicks off the doubleheader at Cerritos tonight. The Vikings have lost three of the last four games against the Falcons.
SATURDAY
Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball vs. No. 8 Pepperdine, 7 p.m.
The second of a three-game homestand brings the Waves to the Beach. Pepperdine has a balanced offensive attack with senior Noah Dyer and redshirt freshman Jacob Steele, who are both averaging almost three kills per set. The all-time series between the Beach and Waves is tied 43-43.
Long Beach State Women’s Basketball at UC Irvine, 2 p.m.
The Beach hits the road for a Black & Blue rivalry game against the Anteaters. UCI is second to last in the Big West and didn’t win a game in December. Junior forward Jordan Sanders is averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds. LBSU has lost three of its last four games against UCI after winning six consecutive games against the Anteaters.
