Millikan, Cabrillo and Jordan all got wins on Friday to stay in the Moore League title hunt.
Jordan 1, Wilson 0
The Panthers grabbed an important win at Wilson thanks to a 48th minute penalty kick converted by captain Ramiro Reyes. Jordan goalkeeper Steven Larios also saved a PK in the first half.
“It’s just a feeling right before,” Larios said of PK strategy. “I had that feeling. I just let myself go.”
“It’s all a mind game,” Reyes said of his PK take. “The goalkeeper thinks he reads where I’m going. I know where I’m going to place it. Then you just take a good shot, and it went in.”
Jordan outshot Wilson 8-5 in a foggy game, and limited the Bruins to just two shots after the goal.
“It’s a team effort and we’re all working together,” Reyes said. “Our chemistry is one of the best in the Moore League. We’re going to keep fighting to make CIF.”
Millikan 4, Compton 0
The Rams got two goals from Anton Moore and a goal each from Anthony Heredia and Jesus Moreno. This is the 16th shutout for the Millikan defense and goalkeeper Matt Sutfin.
Cabrillo 1, Lakewood 0
Sophomore Keith Mosqueda scored the game winner for the Jaguars in the 67th minute on an assist from captain Eduardo Mosqueda.
