Five Long Beach high school girls’ soccer teams start the CIF Southern Section playoffs on Thursday.
DIVISION 1
Moore League champion Millikan, second-place Wilson and third-place Long Beach Poly are all in the top flight division after a close league battle. All three teams have tough tasks ahead of them. Millikan is hosting a JSerra team that beat the Rams last year, and Wilson would have to face No. 1 overall seed Upland in the second round if the Bruins win on Thursday.
DIVISION 2
Lakewood finished fourth in the Moore League and start the playoffs on the road at Claremont.
DIVISION 5
St. Anthony won its second consecutive Camino Real League championship this season and will host the Wild Card winner between Brentwood and Palmdale at Clark Field on Thursday.
