THURSDAY
High School Softball, 3:15 p.m.
The Moore League season started on Tuesday as defending champions Lakewood lost to visiting Wilson, and Millikan edged Long Beach Poly in extra innings. The only league game today is Compton at Cabrillo.
Long Beach State Men’s Basketball vs. Cal Poly, 7 p.m.
This is the last game at Walter Pyramid and it’s almost a must-win week for LBSU. The Beach is currently tied for seventh in the Big West with Cal State Fullerton, and only the top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament. Cal Poly is currently in last place with only four conference wins, but the Mustangs would replace LBSU in the postseason if they get to five wins because they hold the tiebreaker after beating the Beach last month. This game will also be Senior Night for Jordan Griffin.
High School Boys’ Tennis, 3 p.m.
The Moore League tennis season also started on Tuesday, and the marquee matchup today is Poly at Lakewood. In other action, Millikan is visiting Cabrillo while Jordan hosts Compton.
Long Beach City College Softball vs. East Los Angeles, 3 p.m.
The Vikings will be at Mayfair Park and Lisa Fernandez Field for this SCC game against East Los Angeles. This is the last home game until March 17 for LBCC.
High School Boys’ Volleyball, 4:30 p.m.
The Moore League schedule gets started this afternoon as Lakewood hosts Poly, Wilson welcomes Cabrillo and Millikan travels to Compton.
Long Beach City College Men’s Volleyball at Pierce, 6 p.m.
This is the second conference game on the road for LBCC, and the Vikings have revenge on the mind. They lost to Pierce in the 2018 CCCAA Championship game.
FRIDAY
High School Boys’ Lacrosse, 4 p.m.
The only Moore League game of the day is a big one as Millikan visits Wilson.
Long Beach State Baseball vs. Xavier, 6 p.m.
The Dirtbags are back at Bohl Diamond at Blair Field for their fourth home series in as many weeks. Xavier (3-7) has lost all four of its games against ranked opponents. LBSU is 5-1 against ranked opponents, and is up to No. 17 in the latest national polls. Xavier and LBSU have never faced each other. This series continues at 3 p.m. on Saturday and concludes at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Long Beach State Softball vs. Minnesota, 2 p.m.
This is the first of four games this weekend for the Beach as they host the Louisville Slugger Invitational at the LBSU Softball Complex. The Beach will also face UCF, San Diego State and Boston.
Long Beach City College Beach Volleyball vs. Rio Hondo, 10 a.m.
The Vikings are at Granada Beach for a doubleheader against Rio Hondo and Victor Valley. These are LBCC’s last matches at Granada Beach until March 27.
Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball vs. Lindenwood, 7 p.m.
The Beach is back at Walter Pyramid for the last nonconference game at home. No. 4 LBSU has swept Lindenwood in their only two meetings in 2016 and 2019.
Long Beach State Women’s Tennis vs. Cal State Fullerton, 2 p.m.
After hosting Loyola Marymount at Rhodes Tennis Center on Thursday at the same time, the Beach is back in Big West play against the rival Titans this afternoon.
SATURDAY
Long Beach City College vs. Mt. San Antonio, noon
The Vikings are back at home for the third and final game of an SCC series against Mt. SAC. The Mounties (11-6, 2-4) haven’t won a conference series this season, and have lost seven of their last nine games against LBCC.
Long Beach State Men’s Basketball at Cal State Fullerton, 7:30 p.m.
This could end up being a win-and-you’re-in situation for LBSU after entering the week tied with Cal State Fullerton. In January, the Titans handed the Beach a 66-62 loss at Walter Pyramid. Guard Colin Slater scored a team-high 19 points in that loss.
Long Beach State Women’s Basketball vs. UC Davis, 4 p.m.
It’s Senior Night for the Beach as they honor Cydnee Kinslow and Aaryon Green. Back in January, UC Davis edged LBSU 57-55 in a game that only saw 15 points scored in the third quarter.
Long Beach State Women’s Water Polo vs. UC San Diego, noon
This is the first Big West Conference game of the season for LBSU at Ken Lindgren Aquatics Centre. However, The Beach won’t play another conference opponent until they travel to Hawaii at the end of the month.
Long Beach State Track & Field
The Beach Opener is Friday and Saturday at Jack Rose Track on the LBSU campus. Athletes from all over the world will be on hand for this annual event that kicks off the outdoor season.
SUNDAY
Long Beach State Beach Volleyball vs. No. 9 Loyola Marymount, 11 a.m.
After playing three games against No. 7 Stetson, No. 17 South Carolina and No. 6 Pepperdine on Saturday at Zuma Beach, No. 12 LBSU is in Los Angeles today for a pair of matches against LMU and Stetson.
