Long Beach State men’s basketball traveled to Cal Baptist on Saturday for the first game in two weeks but fell 96-75 in Riverside. The nonconference matchup was scheduled quickly after the Beach had their games cancelled last weekend due to false-positive COVID-19 tests.
LBSU (3-5, 2-2) Michael Carter III returned from injury and scored a team-high 16 points. Guard Isaiah Washington chipped in 14 points and five assists. Senior Jordan Roberts also returned from injury and scored six points while grabbing three rebounds.
Cal Baptist (7-4) fell behind early but came back and trailed 42-40 at halftime before opening the second half on a 15-3 run.
The Beach also welcomed back Colin Slater and Drew Cobb who re-joined the team for the spring semester after opting out for the fall.
LBSU returns to Walter Pyramid next weekend to host UC San Diego in Big West games.
