BREAKING: Tonight’s game between Millikan and Jordan has been canceled due to a forfeit by Jordan. We’ll have a full story this afternoon but the cancelation is not due to COVID.
It’s Opening Night in J-Town as the young Panthers welcome Millikan (0-1) for a 7 p.m. showdown. The Rams will be looking to put last week’s 59-0 defeat at Los Al behind them and start Moore League play on the right foot.
Jordan didn’t play last Friday, but did get a situational scrimmage in against Los Osos out in Rancho Cucamonga. There’s just five seniors on the Panthers roster, meaning the limited practice time could be challenging to overcome, especially facing a team that saw live game action a week ago. Jordan started last season 3-0 in non-league play before taking their first loss, 49-0, at Millikan.
The Rams could be showcasing a new quarterback in this game as promising freshman Myles Jackson joined the program earlier this week. It remains to be seen if fellow freshman Ryan Pellum is healthy enough to play after missing the opener at Los Al with a leg injury.
Starting running back Ajae Gravelly ran for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Jordan last season, and will be looking to bust loose after gaining just two yards on seven carries last week against a tough Los Al defense.
The Rams have won three consecutive meetings with Jordan, dating back to 2017.
