After a positive COVID-19 test in the Jackrabbits’ program canceled last week’s Long Beach Poly and Wilson football game, Poly has been chomping at the bit to get back on the field. They’ll do so tonight against Compton in a game played at Cabrillo at 7 p.m.
“The team is excited to get back out there, especially for our Homecoming,” said Poly football coach Stephen Barbee.
It’s a special event for the entire Poly campus as it’s the school’s 125th anniversary school year, and this will be the first football game featuring the entire cheer/marching band/drumline regiment.
On the field, the Jackrabbits are 2-0 and have been the top team in the city so far this year with wins over Serra and Lakewood, holding the Lancers to negative yardage. Compton lost to Millikan last week and had their rushing attack stifled following a narrow loss at Wilson the week before.
The game will be live-streamed at this link.
