Coming off its first loss of the campaign, St. Anthony (2-1) faces a huge test tonight at Clark Field, welcoming in unbeaten Orange High for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Clark Field. The Saints suffered a 24-0 defeat at Harvard Westlake on Saturday and will now have to contend with a prolific Orange offense.
The Panthers (4-0) are fresh off a 73-20 drubbing of Millikan, and are averaging over 49 points per game in their four games. Orange scored early and often against the Rams, led by big quarterback Daylen Pedroza, who had three TD runs in the first half. The Panthers also got a big night from running back Isaiah Adetoye, who had 146 yards on nine carries and a touchdown, helping Orange average over 10 yards per carry on the night.
St. Anthony has relied on the running game this year with junior tailback Sone Aupiu, and he’ll need to be big on both sides of the ball, making plays from his linebacker spot. If the Saints focus too much on the run, Orange has dynamic weapons on the perimeter in junior WR Raymond Casillas and freshman athlete Kobe Boykin.
This will be the final non-league game of the season for the Saints, who are 2-0 in Del Rey play with a meeting with La Salle set for next Friday night. This is also the final game at Clark Field this year, and it will take a big performance from the Saints to close out the home schedule on a high note.
