Long Beach High School Baseball Preview

After having their season cut short last year, Long Beach high school baseball players are back on the field once again. The COVID-19 pandemic ended the 2020 season at its midway point, setting up what should be a memorable and emotional 2021 campaign. The Moore League won’t be using Bohl Diamond at Blair Field for the first time since it opened in 1956–the historic ballpark was built for the local high school kids and community, but will host only the Long Beach State Dirtbags this year due to the pandemic.

“Everyone was bummed about that because Blair is so important to us,” said Millikan coach Ron Keester. “Honestly, though? Everyone was so excited to be back they’d play anywhere. That’s the main thing. Everyone is so grateful to be back.”

There are still plenty of question marks–namely, will there be a CIF Southern Section playoffs for baseball and other Spring sports? But one thing’s for sure–players and coaches are back in the dugout, and thrilled to be there. Click the links below for full preview stories on each team.
