It’s been two weeks since Wilson took the field and opened its season at home against Warren. After a positive COVID-19 test canceled the game at San Jacinto, the Bruins are back in action at Huntington Beach tonight. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Wilson coach Scott Meyer said other than a few kids with injuries from the Warren game, he’s had his full compliment of players back at practice since Wednesday after team activities were halted due to the positive test.
Huntington Beach (1-1) dropped a close game with Aliso Niguel in its opener and then steamrolled Western last week 41-0. The Oilers have a star in #1 WR/DB A.J. Vandermade. The junior has 227 yards receiving and a touchdown on offense plus a handful of tackles and two pass deflections on defense.
Wilson and Huntington Beach have a long recent history of playing each other in the nonleague schedule. Both teams have won two of the last four consecutive meetings.
