The St. Anthony football team heads into Friday’s matchup against Harvard-Westlake with big playoff implications.
If the Saints (5-4, 2-1) win they’re likely in after a close 43-41 loss to Salesian last time out. With a loss they still have a chance with a 5-5 record, but coach Raul Lara and company will look to control their own fate by defeating the Wolverines Friday night at St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy.
The Saints’ defense will need to lock in facing a Harvard-Westlake offense that’s averaging 31 points per game.
The Wolverines have started three quarterbacks this season, but the Saints will need to slow down senior duo AJ Holmes and Jason Thompson. Holmes is averaging 92 yards on the ground, while Thompson is averaging 110 yards receiving and 18.8 yards per catch.
Senior Sone Aupiu will be a big part of the Saints offense as usual after scoring three touchdowns in the Saints loss to Salesian.
St. Anthony will also celebrate senior night as they wrap up the regular season.
