Long Beach State men’s basketball found its offensive rhythm on the road Thursday night and beat UC San Diego 87-69 for its third consecutive victory.
The Beach (7-9, 2-1) had five players score in double-figures as Colin Slater and Joel Murray both scored 20 points. Aboubacar Traore chipped in 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks while Jordan Roberts and Joe Hampton both scored 10 points.
LBSU went on a 14-4 run early and held UCSD to just 21 points in the first half. The Beach led by 20 at halftime.
As part of Big West guidelines, UC San Diego is playing a full conference schedule but the games against the Tritons will not count towards the league standings.
LBSU returns to Walter Pyramid on Saturday to host UC Irvine. Tip time for that game has moved to 1 p.m., as the game will now be broadcast live on Spectrum SportsNet as the Big West Game of the Week.
