Five Long Beach and Moore League boys’ basketball teams open the playoffs on Saturday this week, with the release of the CIF-SS playoff brackets. Click here for the brackets.
Division 1
There are three Long Beach teams in the Division 1 playoffs, including undefeated Moore League champion Long Beach Poly. The Jackrabbits will host Roosevelt on Saturday at 7 p.m. If Poly advances on the strength of Nala Williams, Kristal Caldwell, and Skylar Mills they would face the winner of Marlborough and St. Mary’s Academy.
St. Anthony is traveling to face Oxnard at 5 p.m. and would play the winner of Westlake and Troy in the second round. Wilson is on the road at Chaminade and would face the winner of Lynwood and Redondo Union in round two.
Division 2AA
Millikan is hitting the road in the 2AA playoffs and will travel to Chino Hills on Saturday. They’d face the winner of Woodbridge and West Covina in the second round if they advance.
Division 3AA
Lakewood is traveling to Anaheim High on Saturday for a first-round game and would face the winner of No. 2 Hart and Norwalk in the second round if they win.
