The562.org is pleased to announce our latest school-specific sponsor. Former Long Beach Unified School District superintendent Carl Cohn has stepped up to sponsor all of The562’s coverage of Cabrillo High School from now through the 2022-23 school year.
Cohn was the superintendent of the LBUSD from 1992 through 2002, and was in charge of the district when the land for Cabrillo was acquired and the school was opened.
“I’ve always got a special place in my heart for Cabrillo, and I’ve always appreciated The562’s coverage of Long Beach schools and kids,” said Cohn. “My family and I are happy to help them continue to shine a light on the next generation of Long Beach student-athletes.”
The Cohn family’s generous donation has been matched by a donation from the Spencer Foundation.
“Dr. Cohn is such a valuable leader in our community, and his support means the world to us,” said The562’s publisher, Andy Kerr. “We’re grateful for the support of he and his family, and excited to continue our mission into the future.”
Cabrillo is the youngest school in the Moore League, but has been on the rise in recent years, a story we’ve chronicled at The562 with almost 1,000 articles, videos, and photo galleries about the Jaguars over the last four years.
The Cohn family is the latest sponsor to help to support The562’s award-winning local sports coverage.
