Long Beach State softball made history on Tuesday as Sophia Fernandez, Shelby Frutoz and Samantha Fowler combined to pitch the program’s 32nd no-hitter in a 2-0 win over visiting Cal Baptist.
Fernandez struck out three in three innings, Frutoz cruised through her two innings and Fowler pitched a perfect two innings while striking out four.
Senior Naomi Hernandez gave the Beach a lift with a solo home run for a 1-0 lead. Corissa Sweet started the bottom of the sixth with a leadoff double and came home to score on a wild pitch for a 2-0 lead.
LBSU (10-14) will start the Big West Conference at UC Riverside this weekend.
