The562.org is pleased to announce our latest sport-specific sponsor. Longtime LBUSD Board of Education member Megan Kerr has stepped up to sponsor all of The562’s coverage of high school baseball and softball from now through the end of the school year.
Boardmember Kerr is the mother of former LBUSD athletes and is a longtime supporter of youth sports in the city, as well as a big baseball and softball fan.
“The 562’s work in spotlighting our local student-athletes and schools is invaluable, and I’m happy to help them cover this year’s exciting baseball and softball seasons,” said Kerr.
“Megan was an early supporter of The 562 and we appreciate her continued support as well as her dedication to the kids of Long Beach,” said Tyler Hendrickson, The562’s development director.
This year’s baseball and softball seasons are already underway, and nobody covers the sports like The562. Both sports have wide open championship races already underway. Boardmember Kerr’s donation will help assist with the cost of hiring freelance photographers, videographers, and writers, as well as maintaining the website and providing live updates for the rest of the season.
Boardmember Kerr is the latest sponsor to help to support The562’s award-winning local sports coverage. Previous sponsors include Dan and Desiree Gooch supporting golf coverage, John Ross sponsoring Jordan coverage, the Cohn family sponsoring Cabrillo coverage, Joel Bitonio sponsoring Wilson coverage, Naples Car Wash sponsoring Long Beach State volleyball coverage, P2S, Inc sponsoring our Dirtbags coverage, Bryson Financial sponsoring this year’s cross country coverage and Aqualand sponsoring water polo.
As a non-profit news outlet, The562 depends on reader support and sponsorships in order to cover the Long Beach community. If you’re interested in sponsoring The562’s coverage, or coverage of a specific school or sport, email Tyler@The562.org or visit our Support page to get involved. Any donation made to The562 is fully tax-deductible.
