Following Jordan High’s historic run to the CIF Southern Section Division 11 championship game last Fall, Jordan administration has fired coach Tim Wedlow. The Panthers had never made a CIF-SS football championship game prior to this season.
“They just told me they’re going in another direction,” said Wedlow on Thursday. “They said that barely getting into the playoffs and being 3-3 in league, we should have beat Lakewood and won other games. I don’t think it was that, I think they have someone else they want to hire, but I guess we’ll see who the coach is going to be. It is what it is, I’m upset about it. The kids are telling me they’re upset about it.”
Jordan athletic director Lamar Biffle declined a request for comment and said he had to consult with other administrators before speaking on the matter. The Jordan social media channels announced that the school is seeking applicants for a walk-on head football coach with a season stipend of $5,500.19. Interested parties should email a resume and letter of recommendation to lbjordanathletics@gmail.com; the application window is open until Monday, April 18.
