The562.org Recognized Seven Times In Statewide Award Contests

We’re proud to announce that the562.org was honored seven times by the California News Publishers Association’s California Journalism Awards, a statewide contest recognizing the best work from across the Golden State.

These seven recognitions bring our group of journalists to over 50 such honors in the last decade. We’re proud to bring Long Beach the best local journalism covering its sports and schools–please click here to contribute to our year-end fundraiser to make sure we can come back for 2022-23. We’re also proud to provide our local media partners with high-quality coverage and are happy to be part of big wins for the Long Beach Post and the Grunion Gazette Newspapers.

Mike Guardabascio
An LBC native, Mike Guardabascio has been covering Long Beach sports professionally for 13 years, with his work published in dozens of Southern California magazines and newspapers. He's won numerous awards for his writing as well as the CIF Southern Section’s Champion For Character Award, and is the author of three books about Long Beach history.
