247sports.com’s Greg Biggins broke the news this week that quarterbacks Nico and Madden Iamaleava are transferring from Long Beach Poly to Warren for the upcoming season. The Iamaleavas had transferred in and been enrolled at Poly for the Spring semester after having played the 2021 season at Warren.
“He just felt more comfortable at Warren,” Iamaleava’s father Nic told Biggins. “We’ve always had a good relationship with coach Pearson and Nico is still tight with all of the players there.”
Poly still features one of the best quarterbacks in Southern California in Darius Curry, the rising junior who’s a three-star recruit with several Division 1 offers. Curry has had a great Spring and Summer as Poly’s featured QB, but the Jackrabbits will need to develop some depth behind him with no other players who’ve taken varsity QB reps in a game.
This isn’t the first high-profile transfer to leave Long Beach this offseason. Jordan running back Damian Henderson, one of the best players in the city last year, transferred to Los Alamitos earlier this offseason.
