Long Beach State women’s soccer is opening its season with a six-game home stand, and that starts tonight as the Beach hosts Pacific at George Allen Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
This is the 25th season for LBSU women’s soccer, and coach Mauricio Ingrassia said this year is going to be by the numbers in terms of expectations. He has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and nine Big West regular season or tournament championships in 16 years at the helm.
“It’s about how we progress,” he said. “I hope that through our preseason schedule we can really hone in on the process. It’s how we treat each other on the field and off the field, what’s expected in terms of work rate, how you conduct yourself in everyday life in order to be the best possible team… hopefully by the time we start conference we’ll be firing on all cylinders.”
LBSU was picked to finish second in the Big West preseason coaches poll.
