HIGH SCHOOL

Darius Curry, Long Beach Poly Football

Long Beach Poly junior quarterback Darius Curry wowed in his first start as the Jackrabbits’ full-time starter. Curry was 23/30 for 363 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers, each of whom had more than 50 yards receiving as well.

Myles Jackson, Millikan Football

Millikan junior QB Myles Jackson was near-perfect in his 2022 debut, going 21/26 for 412 yards and six touchdowns, with an interception the only blemish. He also had 87 yards rushing and a TD on the ground.

Erick Barrios, Compton Football

Erick Barrios led Compton to a 1-0 start as he had 14 carries for 194 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Compton’s returning leader also had an interception on defense.

Luis Haro, Cabrillo Football

Junior QB Luis Haro balled out for Cabrillo tonight in their season opener with 324 total yards and five touchdowns in a season-opening win for the Jaguars. Cabrillo won just one game last year and has already equaled that total.

Khaali Hicks, Jordan Football

Khalli Hicks didn’t find the end zone for Jordan, but he was pivotal to the Panthers’ victory as he led them in yardage on the ground; the undersized Hicks frequently dragged two or three defenders with him as he muscled ahead.

Samarah DaCoud, Lakewood Volleyball

Lakewood senior and New Mexico commit Samarah DaCoud helped lead the Lancers to the silver medal in the top bracket of the Lakewood/Molten Classic. She had a double double in the final with 14 kills and 16 digs, with three aces as well.

Elle Lundahl, Millikan Volleyball

Millikan leader Elle Lundahl helped the Rams to the Division 2 gold bracket championship in the Lakewood/Molten Classic last weekend, with 15 kills, 10 digs, and four aces in the title match.
