After opening its season with two games last week, Long Beach State women’s soccer is back at George Allen Field this week for two more games against quality sides. San Diego State comes to Long Beach tonight and the Beach hosts Washington on Sunday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
“We’re making baby steps moving forward,” LBSU coach Mauricio Ingrassia said. “They’re showing some character. We just have to keep fighting and clawing and keep responding.”
LBSU (0-1-1) played Pacific to a draw and then gave No. 15 USC all it could handle in a 1-0 loss.
San Diego State (2-0-0) has wins over Nebraska and Idaho by a combined score of 9-3 with six different players scoring goals. The Beach is 4-0-1 against SDSU in their last five games, but is 6-5-2 all time.
Washington (2-0-0) has been solid defensively with shutout wins over Fresno State and Air Force. The Huskies have only allowed five shots on goal.
Last year, LBSU striker Lena Silano scored late goals on the road to beat SDSU and draw with Washington.
