The Jon Nielsen Era makes its North Side debut on Friday night as the Jordan Panthers play their home opener against Peninsula at 7 p.m.
The all-Panthers matchup includes a pair of 1-0 teams. Peninsula won 26-7 over Dominguez last week at home, while Jordan pulled off an exciting road comeback over Kennedy, 30-21.
Peninsula went 4-6 a season ago, including a home victory over Lakewood. However, the Panthers ended up on the short end of a scrimmage against the Lancers just a few weeks back.
As should be the case pretty much every time Jordan takes the field this season, junior Jordan Washington will be the fastest player on the field. J-Town’s ability to get him the ball in space with room to run could be the difference maker.
Jordan has a modest three-game home winning streak going back to last season, and surely their new head coach would love to open the 2022 slate with a win in front of the home fans. Friday’s game marks the first of three consecutive home games for Jordan to close out the non-league schedule.
