Long Beach Jordan has something special brewing on the Northside as the Panthers are off to a 3-0 start under first-year coach Jon Nielsen.
Jordan is looking to get off to their best start in more than 15 years when they welcome Irvine (1-2) Thursday night at 7 p.m.
“Orange County coach, arrogant–I fare well against those kinds of teams,” said Nielsen after his team’s win over Fairfax last week.
Last week, junior star Jordan Washington made the most of his eight carries as he turned those into opportunities into 212 yards and three touchdowns.
The Panthers will welcome Irvine who is coming off a 29-14 loss to Troy last week. Senior runningback Kendyn Beaver leads the Vaqueros out of the backfield with 339 yards this season.
Despite the slow start this year, the Vaqueros are fresh off a 10-0 regular season last year, where Irvine eventually dropped their opening round contest to St. Francis in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.
