The Wilson Bruins (0-4) are taking a quick trip up the 710 to face the Compton Tarbabes (3-2) on Friday night. Kick off is at 7 P.M. at Compton College.
Coming off a dominating performance, Compton is looking to remain undefeated in Moore League, after they beat Cabrillo 50-20 last week. On the other hand, Wilson lost to Millikan, 63-14, on the field in the league opener. However, the Rams have forfeit their wins and that means the Bruins are tied atop the league standings.
Despite having star senior Erick Barrios out last week, the Compton offense remained prolific and head-swerving as possible, in part to explosive performances by sophomore running back Hayden Ginn. He rushing for 127 yards on 11 touches with a 53 yard receiving touchdown, and junior John John Bledsoe burst onto the scene with 11 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Wilson’s offense has been looking like a bear getting ready for hibernation: slow and lacking action. The Bruins have been outscored by their opponents 161-34 this season, and they scored their season high of 14 against Millikan.
“This is a really big game for us and we’re just trying to get better,” Wilson coach Scott Meyer said.
Last year Compton beat Wilson 36-14.
